Simply improbable
It is pitifully, that despite of the fact of growing poker craze, there are so few books devoted to Omaha poker. That is why it was so pleasant to receive that rewrite of Bob Ciaffone’s “Omaha Holdem Poker”. It did not disappoint. The author describes Omaha game greatly.
At the beginning the origins of Omaha are defined, and then goes on to betting structures and reading the board. Further it is a detailed comparison of Holdem and Omaha.
Then a large section on general strategy for all types of Omaha game, including Limit Omaha High. Funny quizzes make reading more exciting.
There follows a description of Omaha Hi-Low, that happens to be my favorite game, and I was happy to read a lot of interesting facts that were new to me. If you learn this section you can successfully play in low and intermediate games, I believe, even if you know nothing else about this game. However, an experience is also an important thing.
The next chapter is on Pot Limit Omaha, which is more detailed, comparatively with the earlier version.
I am a beginner in this game, so I was particularly interested in it. Let’s face that this is a big vet poker, and everybody want to get right. This section was well written, on my sight, understandable and accessible. Whether I can apply it practically, time will show. I trust the author, and if worse comes worse, he is approachable over the Internet. The ending two chapters are about tournament play and various topics.
How can you be at fault with this book? It is simply improbable!
Specially for beginners
Rather passable book. It gives sufficiently full introduction to Omaha for the beginners and for those who have some knowledge in the field of other poker games. It is fascinating and contain a lot of useful information. It’s up to date and its structure is very convenient for reader. If you want to learn the game – this book is especially for you!
Another poker book
Bob Ciaffone has brought some happiness to his readers. He presented a short-spoken and penetrating into the depth of winning Omaha game guide for newbie. Like his earlier books it is composed of short essays dedicated to main principles of thinking like a professional player, and estimates about solid poker player’s deeds in playing a hand. This book teaches how to analyze specific starting hands and specific flops. It is especially helpful for those who want to play pot-limit Omaha High. Other types of Omaha are not so detailed described, but also can gain attention of readers. As with most distinguished poker books, the more experience you’ll gain, the more useful lessons you’ll receive from this text.
